UIDAI Order copy attached below regarding revised rates of Aadaar registration and updation fee.
The UIDAI website is already equipped to generate a Virtual Aadhaar ID.
UIDAI has made the process of obtaining Aadhaar Virtual ID (VID) easier to ensure the safety of your Aadhaar data. The VID is a temporary, revocable 16-digit random number mapped with your Aadhaar details. UIDAI is encouraging the use of VID and has recently added a new feature of a "Masked Aadhaar Card". The masked VID, if provided to the service provider, can be used instead of the Aadhaar number, thereby ensuring safety.
The virtual ID can be used for the purpose of authentication in the same way the Aadhaar number is used. Currently, VID can be generated on UIDAI's resident portal. The VID allows you to authenticate transactions and e-know-your-customer (KYC) services instead of providing your Aadhaar number.
The UIDAI website is already equipped to generate a Virtual Aadhaar ID. However, the new option to generate VID can help achieve safety by not revealing the Aadhaar card number to a third party.
How to create Virtual Aadhaar ID via e-Aadhaar
1. Once you click on the download e-Aadhaar option, the site provides three options to generate an e-Aadhaar card. It also gives you an option to either create a regular Aadhaar card or a masked Aadhaar card. The latter will have all the details of your Aadhaar card except your regular Aadhaar card number. The masked Aadhaar card will show only last 4 digits of your Aadhaar and will help you keep your Aadhaar number private. So if you don't want to share your Aadhaar number, choosing the masked option is the safest option.
2. Then, just enter the OTP that you received on your linked mobile number and click on download Aadhaar option.
3. To view your e-Aadhaar you have to enter the password which is the first 4 letters of your name and your 4-digit year of birth in YYYY format.
